Papers by publication type

How the confirmed papers break down by the kind of publication, based on OpenAlex's data. Other includes books and book chapters.

Papers by research topic

Topics are auto-tagged by keyword matching algorithm. A paper can match more than one topic, so the counts add up to more than the total number of papers.

Additional info: how papers are found and confirmed

How each paper was found

Papers are found by searching for the name of an LSMS survey. Some survey names are unmistakable on their own; others are more generic and need the country's name nearby to confirm a real match. This shows how strong that match was, for every paper found.

Confirming the data was actually used

Mentioning a survey is not the same as analyzing its data. Every paper is checked against two separate questions: is this genuinely one of our surveys and not a different survey with a similar name, and did the authors actually work with the data rather than just cite it in passing. A paper is only counted if both checks are satisfied.
